Not My Book
This could be the begining of something… who knows.
Inside the cover of one of Ned’s old sketch books he has written “Nope this is not my book.”
Many things about this are just so Ned, and make me smile.
And now, it feels with publishing this first book of Ned’s, 15 years after he died, this name Not My Book has such a beautiful clash of meanings and just fits on another level. The name rises to meet the challenge of us taking years to make this book with so many stops and starts and stops and starts. And the fear deep down that we’ve not captured the spirit of Neds treasured characters, drawings and motives. And yeah, it’s just not Ned’s book. And I think he’d love that.
Ned and I savoured graffiti and mischievious art stories and legends. Stories told to each other with such glee. I’ve always loved the stories of characters and styles that move beyond just one generation – beyond just one person.
Let’s see where this goes…
